Yu Boya likes music and he is good at playing the guqin. People like his music and all praise him, but Yu isn't happy. He thinks, "Nobody can understand the meaning of my music."

One night, Yu plays the guqin and hears a clap. He raises his head and sees a man. "Can you understand my music?" Yu asks. "Yes, I think I can," the man says. Yu asks the man to sit down and listen to his music. He plays music about mountains. The man says, "There are mountains in your music." Yu plays music about rivers. The man says, "There are rivers around." Yu gets excited and says, "You know me so well!" The man is Zhong Ziqi. Yu and Zhong become best friends.
Unluckily, Zhong Ziqi dies several years later. Yu is sad. "No one will know my music like Zhong Ziqi," he thinks. Yu breaks his guqin and never plays the guqin again.
