（2024－2025·黄石市新港园区期末）Hole-in-the-wall restaurants（苍蝇小馆）are more and more popular in China.
They are small restaurants that may not have beautiful environment or good service（服务）like traditional restaurants but have many delicious local（当地的）dishes. You can find them in some small streets in different parts of a city. The most popular ones usually have a history of more than 10 years.
Kit Chen, a 30-year-old Beijing worker, is one such example. During weekends, he always walks through different hutongs to find hole-in-the-wall restaurants. “Before that, I usually went to Internet-famous restaurants. However, I found out that they only use pre-made food or just stir-fry their dishes. They are expensive and not fresh,” said Chen. But hole-in-the-wall restaurants are different. “They buy the ingredients from local markets, so the price of the dishes is also lower than that of the dishes from the Internet-famous restaurants,” he added.
Wang Hongjie, a 16-year-old from Sichuan, likes the experience of eating at hole-in-the-wall restaurants. “Because of the little space, diners at hole-in-the-wall restaurants usually need to eat meals at the same table. We don’t know each other but we can talk with each other,” she said.
However, the food safety problem is more common at hole-in-the-wall restaurants. To solve it, experts advised that these restaurants should get more training and have better service.
