On March 27th, 2025, new food safety rules were brought out in China. The main purpose is to help people choose healthier and safer foods.
One big change is that words like “no additives” or “zero additives” will disappear from food labels (标签). Companies used these words to sell their products, but they could trick (欺骗) buyers. For example, a “no added sucrose (蔗糖)” juice might still have a lot of natural fruit sugars. Also, some products changed one sweetener for another, making buyers misunderstand. The new rules want to make food labels easier to be understood and more honest.
Another important change is the use of digital (数字的) food labels. By just scanning a QR code, buyers can find out where the food comes from, how to store the food, and even watch teaching videos. Food expiration (到期) dates will be made simpler, too. Instead of finding out how long a product can last from the production date, foods with a shelf life longer than six months will be labeled the “use by” date directly. To stop food waste, some products may also have a “best before” date.
Companies have about two years to change and use up the old products. These rules not only protect buyers but also make producers focus on really improving their products. Certainly, they show China's promises to be open in food production and to care about public health.

Have you ever been tricked by food labels? If yes, how did you realize it? If no, how can you prevent (预防) it?
_______

根据第二段中的“One big change is that words like ‘no additives’ or ‘zero additives’ will disappear from food labels(标签)”可知,“无添加”或“零添加”等字样将从食品标签上消失,故选 A。
根据画线词前的“These rules not only...improving their products”和画线词后的“show China’s promises...and to care about public health”可知,画线词“they”指代新的食品安全法规,故选 C。
1 more honest 2 a QR code 3 "best before"

Yes, I have. Once, I bought a drink labeled “no added sugar”. But later I found that it still had a lot of natural fruit sugars which also contain calories. I realized it by reading the ingredient list carefully. To prevent being tricked by food labels in the future, I will always read the ingredient list and nutrition facts carefully. I will also learn more about food labels and food ingredients so that I can make more informed choices.
