A
Fun Water Music
Have you ever made a simple musical instrument? You can do this with some things around you, such as glasses. It is easy and fun. Why not give it a try?
Steps:
• Pour different amounts of water into each glass. Don’t fill the glasses more than half.
• Put the glasses with water on a table. Set them from the glass with the lowest water level to the one with the highest water level. Then, tap each glass with a spoon.
• Try changing the water levels in your containers(容器) to change the pitch(音高). Then, see if you can create different melodies(旋律) by adjusting the water levels in different containers. Can you turn these sounds into a song?
How it works:
Sounds are made when things vibrate(振动). The pitch of a sound depends on the speed of the vibration. When you tap an empty glass, it shakes quickly and produces a high-pitched sound. When you add water, the glass becomes heavier and shakes more slowly. Therefore, the less water in the glass, the higher the pitch of the sound.

16题:根据文章“What you need”部分的“Five empty glasses”,可知需要准备5个空杯子,故选B;
17题:根据Steps第一条“Pour different amounts of water into each glass. Don’t fill the glasses more than half.”,可知第一步是向每个杯子倒入不同量的水,A是后续步骤,B与原文“不超过一半”矛盾,D是第二步的排序要求,故选C;
18题:根据Steps中“Try changing the water levels in your containers to change the pitch”,可知改变音高的方法是调整杯子里的水位,故选D;
19题:根据“How it works”中“the less water in the glass, the higher the pitch”的原理,观察插图,A杯水量最少,能产生最高音,故选A;
20题:文章涉及声音的音高、振动等物理知识,属于物理声学相关内容,因此最可能来自物理报告,A(电影海报)、C(日记)、D(学校通知)均不符合,故选B。
【答案】
16.B 17.C 18.D 19.A 20.B
