Stopping illegal wildlife trade is hard. People who sell or buy these products illegally often hide them in special ways. They might paint an elephant tusk black. They might hide the products in a false bottom in a box.
Something such as coffee has strong smells.
A group called APOPO thinks that African giant pouched (有袋的) rats might be able to help. African giant pouched rats are the largest rats in the world. They are up to three feet long, and weigh about three pounds.
These rats are clever. They learn quickly, and have a strong sense of smell. In the past, these rats were used to help search for people after earthquakes. Now, the rats are trained with food rewards.
The results suggest that these clever, coat-wearing rats could be an important tool in the fight against illegal wildlife trade.

1.F 2.G 3.A 4.C 5.D
