Octopuses are some of the most intelligent sea animals with round bodies, big eyes, and eight arms. There are many kinds of octopuses, and all of them are good at changing how they look. In less than a second, an octopus can look like a rock, a plant, or even another animal. How do they do this?
An octopus can change itself in three ways. The first one is changing colour. Their skin has special cells（细胞）which have different colours. When an octopus moves, the cells either grow bigger or get smaller to change the colour of its skin(皮肤). For example, if the red cells become bigger, the octopus' skin will turn red quickly.
Octopuses can also change the feel of their skin. When they move, their skin can go from smooth to spiky(带刺的）to look like a plant. Another way they hide is by changing their shapes. Some octopuses turn their bodies into balls to look like rocks. Some can even copy the shape of other sea animals, especially dangerous sea snakes!
Why are octopuses so good at hiding themselves? They have to be. The ocean is a dangerous place for them. To stay alive, octopuses have developed such amazing skills. And this is octopuses' living wisdom(生存智慧).
