From 15 August to 17 August 2025, Beijing held the world's first Humanoid Robot Games(人形机器人运动会) at the National Speed Skating Oval, also known at the Ice-Ribbon. Over 500 robots from 16 countries formed about 280 teams to take part in sports, dances, and practical tasks during the three-day event. The opening ceremony(开幕式) amazed humans with robots dancing, performing martial arts(武术) and playing instruments like drums. In a fashion show about future, robots wore clothes with humans, though one fell and needed help. The games included three types:
◆Games: Running races, standing long jump, and football—even a 5v5 game where robots made decisions alone.
◆Shows: Group dances and martial arts, such as 60 mini robots in Chinese opera costumes(戏服).
◆Real-world challenges: Tasks like sorting hospital medicines in 20 minutes or cleaning hotel rooms.
Teams from top universities and companies joined in the international event. A Chinese official said every robot was “making history”. Though robots sometimes made mistakes, the events wanted to improve technology through practice. The Games show China's progress in AI robotics and give us a look at a future where humans and machines work together.
