The Amazon Rainforest in South America is the world’s largest rainforest. It is about five million square kilometres and it runs across nine countries.
The Amazon Rainforest is very important because it is home to thousands of animals, birds, insects and plants. The Amazon water lily can change gender（性别）and colour. In the evening, it’s a female, and the flower is white. The next day, it becomes a male and the flower becomes pink.
In some countries, people cut down lots of trees. That destroys the rainforest and the rainforest is getting smaller and smaller.
