B(真题·台州临海)
How many butterflies do you see near your home? Do you know different butterfly species? Now many people in the UK are counting butterflies. They are taking part in this year's Big Butterfly Count.
It is held by the Butterfly Conservation group. It started in 2010 and is now bigger than any other butterfly count on the earth. In 2024, almost 85,000 people joined in the event, providing 143,241 counts. This year, it will take place from Friday 18th July to Sunday 10th August.
The Butterfly Conservation group does the count each year to help it understand the numbers of different species and where they live. Since the 1970s, 80% of butterfly species have dropped. This is a result of climate change, losing homes and too much farming.
Rising temperatures also cause some species to go north to look for cooler weather. Holly blues(小灰蝶) usually live in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. They are now flying in Scotland. Red admirals(红蛱蝶) usually fly to the UK from Europe and North Africa in winter. They are now living here all the year.
Dr Richard Fox, Head of Science at Butterfly Conservation said, "We need everyone, everywhere to get out for the Count this year. When butterflies are in trouble, we know that the wider environment is in trouble too. Nature is sounding the alarm call. We must act now and protect species for future generations."
Taking part in the Big Butterfly Count is easy. Find an outdoor place: like a park, garden, field or forest, in sunny weather. Set a timer for 15 minutes and count the number and kinds of butterflies that you see. Even if you don't see any at all, this information is still helpful for scientists.

C(真题·台州温岭)
Have you found yourself listening to “ancient people” online recently? Creative vloggers are using AI technology to bring famous people from history like Tang Dynasty(朝代) poets Li Bai and Du Fu “back to life”. These videos have become popular, showing these ancient icons(代表人物) speaking in modern language.
In one video, Du Fu talks about his experience during the An-Shi Rebellion(755-763). In another, Ming Dynasty medical(医药的) expert Li Shizhen makes fun of modern lifestyles, like trying to be healthy by drinking goji berry(枸杞) water but still staying up late. “The videos make me want to learn more about important ancient people, such as Wen Zhengming and Tang Bohu. I didn’t know much about their stories before,” said Wang Jiayi, 15, from Shandong.
The new trend isn’t for everyone, however. The way these ancient people speak in high tones and always ask questions makes some people feel a bit angry. “They’re too pushy(咄咄逼人), which is different from how they really were,” explained 14-year-old Wang Shuotong from Jiangsu.
Xia Boen, 14, from Hubei, felt the same. But he was surprised to find that he remembered everything they said about their experiences and achievements, thanks to the speaking style in the videos.
“These videos use a more modern way to let ancient people speak for themselves. However, we should be careful with these videos, making sure they are sharing real information,” noted Nanfang Daily.
