Some monkeys are playing in a tree near a well(井). They are having a good time. Suddenly a little monkey shouts, "Look, the moon has dropped(掉落) into the water." "Get it out," shout the other monkeys. The little monkey hangs(悬挂) from the tree by his tail. Then all monkeys hang from others by their tails.
At last they get to the water, but they still cannot get the moon. Another little monkey finds a gourd ladle(瓢) to get the moon. Aha! He gets the moon from the water with it.
At that time, all the monkeys come for the moon. But suddenly the gourd ladle drops and the moon is broken. The monkeys are very sad. But when they look up, what do they see? The moon is still there, high up in the sky.
