答案
1. B 根据前文“One can't discuss Chinese music without mentioning the guqin”可知,古琴和音乐关联,此处说的是古琴代表着中国的独奏乐器传统。
3. D 根据前文“the guqin had only five strings”以及“King Wen of Zhou added a ... string for his son. King Wu of Zhou added a seventh string ...”
4. A 根据“in a quiet setting and never for public performance”可知,这里说的是古琴通常在安静的环境中“演奏”,表示演奏乐器动词用 play,句子为被动语态,played 是 play 的过去分词。故选 A。
5. B 根据后文“The sound of the guqin mixed with the echoes from the mountains”可知,古代艺术家喜欢在“山里”的溪边演奏,这样琴音能和山间的回声混合在一起。故选 B。
6. C at one with 是固定短语,意为“与……
7. A 根据“Wang Wei(701-761), a highly talented man of the Tang Dynasty, liked playing it in a bamboo forest on nights with moonlight most.” 故选 A。
8. D 根据“three to eight minutes long”以及“which is 22 minutes long”可知,这里是说《广陵散》(时长)是最长的,longest 意为“最长的”。故选 D。
故选 A。
10. C 前文说“Nowadays, there are not so many well-trained guqin players and living masters.(现在,训练有素的古琴演奏者和在世的大师并不多)”,后文说“the guqin is experiencing a resurgence, with many young people showing interest and taking up the instrument(古琴正在经历复兴,许多年轻人表现出兴趣并开始学习这种乐器)”,前后是转折关系,however 意为“然而”,表示转折。故选 C。
