On December 13, 2025, Paris opened a new cable car (缆车) line. It is about 4.5 kilometres long. It is the first cable car line in Paris. And it's also the longest urban (城市的) one in Europe. *Now, suburban (郊区的) people can "fly" over the busy traffic to work in the city! The cable car system has 105 cars (吊舱). It can carry more than 11,000 people every day.
We usually see cable cars in mountain areas. But now they are popular in cities. Why? Because they are cheaper to build than subways. This new line costs about 160 million dollars. But building a subway would cost over 1 billion (十亿) dollars! The city government (政府) cannot pay that much.
