The Eiffel Tower is a famous place of interest in France. It was the tallest building in the world when it was completed(完成) in 1889. It was the tallest building in the world for 41 years and is also the tallest tower in Paris today.
The Eiffel Tower is the first building made totally of iron(铁). The tower is 330 meters tall. It took nearly 300 people about two years to build this amazing tower. The tower is painted(刷漆) every seven years, but it takes between 18 months and over three years to finish each time because it is painted mostly by hand.

Every year about 7,000,000 people visit the tower. Some people take the lift and go up to the top of the tower to enjoy the beauty of the city. But if you don't want to wait for the lift or if you want to get some exercise, you can walk up to the top.
Many interesting things have happened inside the tower. In 1948, an elephant walked up to the first floor. In 1983, two men went up and down the stairs on motorbikes.
The Eiffel Tower is open every day of the year, usually from 9:30 to 24:00. But in July and August, it's open from 9:00 to 00:45. ▲ You will surely enjoy it!

One thing we know for sure, dogs are our oldest animal friends. They were pets before horses, cows, pigs, sheep—and long before cats. Dogs first became pets in Egypt about 5,500 years ago, so they were part of human(人类) history.
So where did dogs come from? DNA studies say dogs are from the grey wolf. But how could a wild(野生的) wolf become a pet dog? They went with nomadic(游牧的) humans
freely. Humans also took care of wolf babies and made the kind ones into hunting friends and pets.
When people learned to breed(培育) dogs for a reason, they began to make different kinds of dogs do many jobs. Hunting was an important job. Dogs helped do different hunting things, such as following smells and hunting fast animals.
Today, some dogs are trained(训练) to help people, like guide dogs for the blind, ear dogs for the deaf and police dogs for the police. But most dogs don't work—they're just friends. Unlike wolves, they can't live in the wild alone. Dogs see their human family as their pack. They need us for food, home, and love, and look to us as leaders. Anyway, they've come far from wolves, and won our hearts.
