be confused about sth.
根据上文的“the elephants could, at any time, get away”和下文的they did not可知,此处表示转折。

be confused about为固定短语,意为“对……
空处作动词hold的宾语,需用they的宾格形式them,故填them。
1. about 2. held 3. Clearly 4. but 5. why 6. them 7. amazed 8. believed 9. elephants 10. nothing

Ladies and gentlemen, good evening.
First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me this great honour.
There is an old saying in China: If the mirror is made of bronze, one can dress properly; if the mirror is history, one canpredict ups and downs; if the mirror is people, one can reflect on one's own weakness and strength. And now, I would like to mention a few mirrors in my life.
My parents were basketball players back in the 1970s. I heard so many great stories about them, about how they played basketball and how good they were. The gift I got from my dear mum and dad was not only height. It was much more. They taught me how to think and how to make decisions.
My basketball journey began on the back of coach Li Zhangmin's bicycle when he gave me a ride to my very first practice on the basketball court.
Many people know the story that began when the Rockets chose me in 2002. Not many people know how much effort the Rockets put in before I arrived and throughout my career. I consider Houston my second home, so I want to say something to the people of Houston. You stood by me in good and bad times. You gave me strength to move forward. I will always consider you my family. I am a Texan and a fan of Houston Rockets for life.
Thank you for this great honour.
1. What does the writer think is a more important gift from his parents?
