(推理判断)Nancy has a violin shop. She has four apprentices(学徒) and they work in the shop, learning to make violins. One day, someone stole(偷) some things from Nancy's violin shop. A violin, as well as a diamond(钻石) from her lockbox, is missing. The lockbox is in the basement(地下室). But nobody else knows it is there.
Detective Smith soon comes to the shop. He thinks one of the four apprentices must be the thief. So he calls them together and asks them each the same question, "If you were the thief, how would you steal the violin and the diamond?" Here are their answers:
Flora: I would go in through the backdoor. I would steal the violin and sell it the next morning. Violins are worth a lot of money.
Jeff: I would stay in the office at night. After everyone went home, I would look for the lockbox and steal the violin and the diamond.
Marina: I wouldn't try to open her lockbox in the basement at night. It would make a lot of noise. I would only be interested in the violin.
Neal: To steal the violin and the diamond, I would wear a pair of gloves. This way, I wouldn't leave any fingerprints.
After hearing their answers, Detective Smith knew who the thief was.
1. When does the theft(盗窃) take place?
2. Why does Detective Smith ask them the same question?
3. What was stolen(被偷) from Nancy's shop?
4. How would Neal avoid(避免) leaving fingerprints?
5. Do you know who the thief is? And why?
