答案
1. was tired out after managing to save
2. the same size as theirs
3. continued moving across my body
4. lifted; into; how to get away
2. the same size as theirs
3. continued moving across my body
4. lifted; into; how to get away
解析
【分析】
1. 首先确定时态:时间状语是last night,要用一般过去时。“精疲力尽”对应的短语是be tired out,主语the doctor是单数,所以be动词用was;“设法抢救”用manage to save,“在……之后”用after,介词后接动名词形式,所以是after managing to save,组合起来即可。
2. “和……一样大”常用固定表达the same size as,“他们的”指代他们的教室,要用名词性物主代词theirs,直接套用结构就能得出答案。
3. “继续做某事”用continue doing sth的结构,“爬过我的身体”是move across my body,结合语境用一般过去时,continue变为continued,所以是continued moving across my body。
4. “伸向空中”是lift...into the air,根据后面的was thinking可知要用一般过去时,lift变为lifted;“思考如何逃走”用think how to get away,这里how to get away是宾语从句的简化形式,直接填入即可。
【解析】
1. 根据时间状语last night确定时态为一般过去时,“精疲力尽”译为be tired out,主语为单数,故用was tired out;“设法抢救”译为manage to save, after为介词,后接动名词形式,所以填was tired out after managing to save。
2. “和……一样大”的固定表达是the same size as,“他们的(教室)”用名词性物主代词theirs,所以填the same size as theirs。
3. “继续做某事”用continue doing sth,“爬过我的身体”是move across my body,结合语境用一般过去时,continue的过去式是continued,所以填continued moving across my body。
4. “把……伸向空中”是lift...into the air,由was thinking可知用一般过去时,lift的过去式是lifted;“如何逃走”译为how to get away,作thinking的宾语,所以依次填lifted; into; how to get away。
【答案】
1. was tired out after managing to save
2. the same size as theirs
3. continued moving across my body
4. lifted; into; how to get away
【知识点】
1. 动词短语运用
2. 名词性物主代词
3. 非谓语动词

五、阅读理解
In 1674, I was born on my father's small farm in Nottinghamshire, England. I was the third of five sons. My childhood was very happy. I liked going to school and learning new things. But I used to daydream about going to sea.
One day, Father asked, "Lemuel, have you thought about your future? I think you would be a good doctor."
I wanted to please him, so I said, "Yes, Father. I'll go to Cambridge University and study medicine." But as I spoke I was thinking, "At university I can also learn things that will be useful to a sailor."
After several years of study, I became a doctor. Not long after that, I asked my sweetheart, Mary, to marry me. Before long, we had children, a boy and a girl. They gave us great joy. I enjoyed being a doctor for the first few years. But then I became bored, and ideas of travel filled my mind. I imagined going to far-off places and seeing wonderful new things.
"Mary," I said one day, "I need more adventure in my life. The captain of a ship about to sail has offered me a job as the ship's doctor. I don't know how long the journey will take, but I promise I will return. And when I do, I'll tell you and the children all about my adventures."
So in 1699, I set sail on the Antelope from Bristol. That city is a large and very old port(港口城市) in the southwest of England. The captain was a good man and had sailed a great deal!
"Welcome aboard, Doctor Gulliver," he said. "First we'll be sailing down the Atlantic Ocean and around the coast of Africa. Then we'll sail through the Indian Ocean to the South Seas."
Our journey went well until one morning, somewhere near Tasmania in the South Pacific Ocean.
"I don't like the look of those clouds," the captain said. "I think a storm is coming."
Within an hour, a big storm began. The sea rose in great, angry waves much taller than the Antelope. The wind, now as strong as a hurricane, made a terrible sound.
"The wind is blowing the ship off course!" shouted the captain. "Look out!"
