A great traveller: Zheng He
Zheng He was a great traveller in the Ming Dynasty. He went across the sea with many ships. He visited many places in Asia and Africa. He liked new places and new people. In those days, there were no maps to help people at sea. But Zheng He knew the stars well. He always knew the right way to go. Zheng He made seven trips and visited more than 30 countries over 28 years. His ships took Chinese goods (商品) to other countries and brought back many new things.
Zheng He’s trips helped China make friends with other countries. His trips also showed China’s strong ships and brave people. His trips were many years earlier than Christopher Columbus’s trips.
People still remember Zheng He today. He helped China know the world better, and he also helped the world know China better.
