However, in order to discover yourself, you will need to put yourself in some uncomfortable situations. 3.
F
This may make you feel nervous, but it will give you a chance to learn more about how you feel and think when challenged.
A. It's never too late to learn.
B. Who or what do you want to be?
C. As the saying goes, "Life is short."
D. The following may be of some help to you.
E. The self-discovery journey is a lifelong journey.
F. For example, you have to give a speech in public.
G. This will tell you where your true joy comes from.

答案

训练 4 F 根据“you will need to put yourself in some uncomfortable situations”可知你会需要把自己置于一些不适的情境中,选项 F“比如,你不得不做一个公开演讲。”

(原创)Scientists in California have created a new material that can remove(除去) large amounts of carbon dioxide($CO_2$) from the air. The fluffy(松软的) yellow powder works faster than other materials and can be used over and over again. The new material could play an important part in the fight against climate change.
Currently, many people around the world are working on ways of removing carbon from the air and storing it. This is often called Direct Air Capture(捕捉)(DAC).
1.
C
>> 逻辑衔接 But normally during the process, air is pulled across a material that can remove $CO_2$ from it. One common material is limestone(石灰岩). Later, the material is heated to carefully release the $CO_2$ so that it can be stored safely underground. 2.
F
>> 逻辑衔接
COF-999, the new material created by scientists at UC Berkeley, is a different story.
3.
A
It captures $CO_2$ about 10 times faster than other DAC materials. The researchers say that half a pound (about 230 grams) of the powder can pull as much $CO_2$ from the air as a tree can. But unlike trees, COF-999 can capture $CO_2$ even when it's dark outside.
4.
E
Perhaps most importantly, COF-999 can be reused over and over again. The scientists have already tested reusing the material up to 300 times. They believe it could probably be reused thousands of times.
The researchers are still working on COF-999, and hope that soon it will be able to remove twice as much carbon as it does now.
5.
G
The machine will have to be designed so that the powder won't blow away when air is pulled through the machine. The scientists believe COF-999 will be ready to be used in DAC systems in about two years.
A. COF-999 has many advantages.
B. That makes it difficult to remove.
C. DAC technology is still being developed.
D. The discovery was exciting for the scientists.
E. The materials needed to make COF-999 do not cost much.
F. But the current methods of doing this are expensive and can't capture much $CO_2$.
G. The next big challenge is finding out how to use COF-999 in a direct air capture system.

1. C 根据下文“But normally during the process, air is pulled across a material that can remove CO₂ from it.”
2. F 根据上文“One common material is limestone. Later, the material is heated to carefully release the CO₂ so that it can be stored safely underground.”以及下文“COF-999, the new material created by scientists at UC Berkeley, is a different story.”

3. A 根据下文“It captures CO₂ about 10 times faster than other DAC materials ... COF-999 can capture CO₂ even when it's dark outside.”
4. E 根据下文“Perhaps most importantly, COF-999 can be reused over and over again.”
5. G 根据下文“The machine will have to be designed so that the powder won't blow away when air is pulled through the machine.”
