My favourite book is The Old Man and the Sea, written by the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway. I have read it three times so far.
The main character is an old fisherman named Santiago. He has gone 84 days without catching a fish, but he never gives up. Finally, he catches a huge marlin, though he has to fight against it and the sharks for days. In the end, he only brings back the skeleton of the fish, but he has shown his courage and perseverance.
I love this book because it has taught me that a man can be destroyed but not defeated. I
have learned that we should keep trying no matter how hard the difficulties are. It has become my
spiritual guide when I face challenges in life.
