四、阅读理解。
A hare(兔子) is an animal that can run very fast. A tortoise is an animal that can go only very slowly. One day, a hare laughed at a tortoise that was going slowly past him.
The tortoise disliked that somebody laughed at him because he was slow. He said to the hare, “You can run faster than I, but I will beat(打败) you in a race.” The hare, thinking that the tortoise could not do this, said, “Very well, I will race you.”
The two animals asked a fox to be the judge. On that day, the fox told them where the race would begin and where it would end.
The fox then said, “One, two, three, go!” and the race began. The hare ran off and was soon a long way in front of the tortoise. He was so far in front that he stopped running to have a rest and soon fell asleep. The tortoise, however, just kept on moving slowly forward. When the hare woke up, he saw that the tortoise had passed him and was now a long way in front of him. He ran as fast as he could to catch up, but before he could do this, the fox judged the tortoise to be the winner of the race.

答案
1.B 2.D 3.A 4.C 5.D
解析
1. 定位原文第二段第一句“The tortoise disliked that somebody laughed at him because he was slow.”,乌龟不喜欢别人因为他速度慢嘲笑自己,可推断出他听到兔子的嘲笑后很生气,对应选B。
4. 定位原文第四段“He was so far in front that he stopped running to have a rest and soon fell asleep.”,可知兔子领先乌龟很远之后,停下来休息了,选C。
5. 这是经典的龟兔赛跑故事,速度很慢的乌龟凭借坚持最终赢得了比赛,告诉我们哪怕自身条件不占优势,每个人也都有机会成为赢家,对应D选项。
