Environmentalists are getting more worried about the influence of fast fashion on the environment. Fast fashion is lots of clothes at low cost. They are put in shops and online quickly. Companies make billions of clothes every year. This is expected to grow by 60％ by 2030.
The fast fashion business is having a negative influence on the environment. Many of the clothes end up in the rubbish and are not recycled. Another influence on the environment is caused by the chemicals used to make clothes. These cause people working in clothes factories health problems.
The way people are buying clothes is adding to the reason for clothing waste. Today, people order cheap clothes on the internet. They can send clothes back if they don't like them. Some people buy clothes but never wear them. A German media(媒体)company wrote, “Every year in Europe, four million tons of clothing end up in the rubbish. Less than 1％ of this is recycled. ” It seems that the fashion industry is causing a throwaway society.
In fact, people can take steps to make the clothes last longer or not end up in the rubbish. First, wash clothes only as necessary. Second, repair some broken parts instead of throwing away the clothes. Third, give away what you no longer wear or exchange your clothes with your friends.
By following these steps, people can reduce the clothing waste. Every small step can have a positive influence on the environment.
