You may find that all mountains look blue from far away! Why is that?
Sunshine is a mix of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each colour has a different wavelength波长. Blue has one of the shortest ones.
Earth's atmosphere大气层 is full of tiny air molecules分子. When light hits them, it gets scattered散射 around. According to the website How Stuff Works, light with shorter wavelength bounces like a ping-pong ball until it reaches our eyes. More distance from a mountain means more atmosphere. Finally, the mountain disappears into the sky as we only see blue light. The same thing happens with tall buildings too.
