A long time ago, there lived a very poor shoemaker. The old man was so poor that he only had enough leather to make one pair of shoes. In the evening, the old man cut out the leather, then he put it on the worktable and went to sleep. The next morning, the old man woke up and found the leather was gone, instead, a pair of beautiful shoes was there.
A customer liked the shoes so much that he paid more than usual price for them. With that money, the old man bought enough leather to make two pairs of shoes. It went on for some time, and the old man quickly became rich. Whenever he saw his neighbours or the poor people in need, he would help them.
The shoemaker and his wife were very curious about who always helped them. They
decided to hide behind the door and watched what happened. At midnight, some little naked elves went up the worktable, then they started to make the shoes. The old man and his wife were so shocked that they could not believe their eyes. The old man and his wife wanted to show their thanks to those little elves, so they decided to make some clothes for them. On that night, those elves found these beautiful clothes, they put them on and were very happy.
