The sun hung low as our team, the Tigers, began the final match with one clear purpose: to win. Our coach, Mr Lee, always told us to pull together when things got tough.
Early in the game, I made a terrible mistake. I overlooked a teammate and took a risky shot. The Eagles quickly won the ball and entered our half to score. When my teammate Jake blamed me, I shouted back angrily. Mr Lee called a timeout. He didn't be hard on me but said, "You can't shut your teammates out — or shut your mistakes away. Go apologize to Jake." I hesitated — I didn't dare face Jake, but I knew Mr Lee was right. I took a deep breath. "I'm sorry," I said. "Can you take back your anger?" Jake smiled softly. "Only if you promise to pass next time," he said. We shook hands, and together we ran back to the field.
In the second half, the referee blew his whistle and gave us a penalty(点球) after a player in the Eagles tripped Jake. I took the kick and scored! We won the game. The crowd cheered, and my teammates swarmed me. Mr Lee clapped, his eyes shining with pride. "I'm so proud of you all," he said. "You didn't let a mistake break you — you fixed it." After the game, Jake laughed and said, "I almost kicked myself for getting mad earlier." I nodded. "Me too. But we pulled through."
How easy it is to let negative feelings take over — but how much better it is to say sorry, work together, and find a solution! That day, we didn't just win an award — we learned a lesson we'd repeat for the rest of our lives.
