2026年大数据学科质量测评八年级英语下册人教版第51页答案
B
Last Friday, a very strong storm hit two villages in the New Territories. It was a terrible disaster. The storm destroyed fourteen homes completely. Seven other homes were so badly damaged that their owners could not live in them anymore. Another fifteen homes had broken windows or broken roofs. Sadly, one person died in the storm. Several people were badly hurt and had to go to hospital. A number of other people also got light injuries. After the storm, over two hundred people had no home to go back to.
A farmer, Mr Tan, talked about that morning. He said the storm started early and lasted for more than an hour. "I was having breakfast with my wife and children when we heard a very loud noise," he said. A few minutes later, their house fell down. The family was under the broken house. "We tried our best to climb out, but then I saw that one of my children was missing." Mr Tan was very worried. He went back inside the broken house and found his child. "He was safe, but very frightened," Mr Tan said.
Another villager, Mrs Woo, also shared her story. Her husband had just left for work when she felt her house moving. She felt it was dangerous, so she ran outside immediately with her children. "There was no time to take anything," she said. They left everything behind. It was a good thing that they ran out quickly because a few minutes later, the roof of their house fell down.
After the storm, soldiers came quickly to help. They worked hard to take people out of the flooded areas. The welfare services brought important things like food, clothes and tents for shelter. These actions helped the villagers a lot during this difficult time.
