Feel sad? Hug a tree! Recently, many Chinese young people turn to trees to help with their problems. Maybe it sounds strange, but there's science behind the tree-hugging.
The "biophilia hypothesis" tells us the reason. It was from an American scientist, Edward Wilson, in 1984. He said that we humans were born to love being around other living things. Humans' love for nature is "in our DNA". This idea helps us know about why people choose green, natural places instead of city views. It's also one of the reasons why people love cute pets.
Some studies show why tree-hugging can help with our health. A study in 2021 reported that the activity could increase oxytocin. It has something to do with our feelings. The higher the level of oxytocin is, the happier you may be. Hugging trees for only 21 seconds can bring more oxytocin in our body.
What's more, when a person is angry, sad or very anxious, more cortisol comes out. Hugging trees helps make cortisol less and less, which makes us feel better.
The activity is helpful to us, but it's important to remember that we shouldn't hurt nature when doing it. Trees are important because many small animals live in the trees. You may want to be gentle when hugging trees—just like how you hug a friend!

根据“He said that we humans were born to love being around other living things. Humans' love for nature is ‘in our DNA’. This idea helps us know about why people choose green, natural places instead of city views.”
根据“A study in 2021 reported that the activity could increase oxytocin. It has something to do with our feelings. The higher the level of oxytocin is, the happier you may be.” 故选A。
根据“A study in 2021 reported that the activity could increase oxytocin. It has something to do with our feelings. The higher the level of oxytocin is, the happier you may be.”
根据“It was from an American scientist, Edward Wilson, in 1984. He said that ...”“Some studies show why tree-hugging can help with our health ... Hugging trees for only 21 seconds can bring more oxytocin in our body.”
根据“Recently, many Chinese young people turn to trees to help with their problems. Maybe it sounds strange, but there's science behind the tree-hugging.”

1. 细节理解题:根据第二段原文“He said that we humans were born to love being around other living things. Humans' love for nature is "in our DNA". This idea helps us know about why people choose green, natural places instead of city views.”
2. 词义猜测题:根据第三段后文“The higher the level of oxytocin is, the happier you may be. Hugging trees for only 21 seconds can bring more oxytocin in our body.”
3. 判断正误题:根据第三段“The higher the level of oxytocin is, the happier you may be.”
1. D 2. A 3. D 4. C 5. D
