Spring is a season full of wonders(奇观). Among all the things of
spring, rain has been a hot topic(话题) in poems all over the world. Let's
see how poet(诗人) Du Fu from China wrote about spring rain.
Happy Rain on a Spring Night
Good rain knows its time right;
It will fall when comes spring.
With wind it steals in night;
Mute, it moistens each thing.
O'er wild lanes dark cloud spreads;
In boat a lantern looms.
Dawn sees saturated reds;
The town's heavy with blooms.
In the first two sentences, Du used personification(拟人) to show his
love for the spring rain. It could make everything wet, wake up insects(昆
虫) and help with farming. Also, the spring rain came during the night
without making any noise. The quiet spring rain did good things without
wanting to be known. In the night sky, the clouds looked dark and heavy.
This showed that there would be enough rain during the night. Then the
poet imagined(想象) that tomorrow morning all of the flowers in the city
would bloom after the rain.
