六、传统文化 阅读理解。
Born in 1995 into a family of Tonghua porcelain(瓷器)craftsmen, Ye Hao naturally fell in love with this art. He has kept practising his skills for over 10 years, bringing new life to it.
Seeing the number of people with the skills to make Tonghua porcelain drop greatly in Chaozhou, Ye felt responsible(有责任)for learning and protecting the art. Ye began learning it in high school, believing that every Tonghua porcelain piece has a life of its own.
During a winter holiday, when Ye was practising carving flowers with his grandpa, his grandpa tried to teach him and laughed at the cracks(裂缝)in the flowers he made. “My grandpa told me that I had no feeling for the craft, but I didn't take it to heart at that time. Now I get to know he was hoping that I could practise more,” Ye said.
He came to understand that moisture(水分)in the clay was important, as dry clay could easily break. After learning all the skills, Ye said his biggest job lay in designing. Designing porcelain pieces needs careful thoughts of their sizes and structures(结构). If a hole is carved too large, it can easily break during firing.
Ye began to combine(结合)Tonghua porcelain with everyday things and his hobbies. For example, he designed a porcelain brooch(胸针)in the shape of a hand - painted rose. This brooch became a special souvenir chosen by the Guangdong government.
As an animation(动画片)lover, Ye also designed a vase with small porcelain figures from an animation. This vase mixed traditional art with popular culture.
Ye said he would keep looking for ways to bring the art into everyday life and show it to more people using fresh designs.
