One day in November, 7-year-old Ventura was eating lunch in the school cafeteria (自助食堂). Suddenly, she choked (噎住) on a pretzel (椒盐卷饼). She couldn't breathe! Quickly, she made the choking sign (手势).
Just at that moment, Mr Johnson, a school security guard (保安), saw her. He ran over right away and used the Heimlich Maneuver to help her. After Ventura felt better, Mr Johnson took her to the school nurse.
Mr Johnson was not supposed to be (不应该) in the cafeteria then. He was showing a new guard around the school. He just happened to be there at the right time!
A few days later, Ventura's parents came to thank Mr Johnson. The principal said, "Mr Johnson has a heart of gold. He also helped save other students in 2023 and 2024."
"Thank goodness! I was there just in time! *I'm so happy that I could do something useful for her when she needed it most," Mr Johnson said. He's truly a guardian angel on campus!
