Wakeboarding is an exciting sport at the 2025 Chengdu World Games. Xu Lu is a wakeboarder from China who won a gold medal in the women's freestyle event.
Xu started wakeboarding at the age of 11. At first, she was afraid of water, but now she loves it. She practises on the water every day.
Competing in Chengdu meant a lot to Xu. She muffed the Birmingham World Games in 2022 because of bad injury. Now, she finally had her moment.
During the opening ceremony, Xu lit the main torch(主火炬) on her wakeboard. “The World Games truly serve as a wonderful stage to help more people discover wakeboarding,” she said.
The Chengdu World Games were from August 7 to 17, 2025. Almost 4,000 athletes took part. It was the largest World Games in history. China topped the medal table with 64 medals.
In wakeboarding, people stand on a board. A motorboat pulls them across water. They can use the boat's wake to do cool moves.
There were many other cool sports at the World Games, such as flying disc, life saving and drone racing.
