Dr Matt Kerton works for an air ambulance charity(空中救护慈善机构) in the UK. It is a charity that gives good medical care to patients in faraway places. He works with a nurse and a good helicopter(直升机) driver.
Even if someone gets sick in a country area, Dr Kerton and his team can fly to them quickly. They can give care as good as what people get in a hospital. He says his job is fast and sometimes a little hard. That's because he often has to act quickly and get ready for problems, like bad weather.
Dr Kerton and his team work from a center. They wait for calls for help when someone is in danger. To pass the time, they often practice medical skills, and sometimes drink tea. When a call comes, they have to take off in six minutes. "So we need to be ready—no last-minute trips to the toilet, and we keep our stomachs full," he tells reporters.
One of Dr Kerton's most memorable calls was during a storm. The wind was too strong for them to fly the helicopter. So they treated and transported the patient using a truck, with help from a farmer. He says the best part of his job is working with his team. "Every time the radio makes a sound, we don't know what we will see or where we will go. But I know my team and I can take care of it," he says.
