I’d like to introduce a special bird from Beijing—the Beijing swift. It is an amazing bird that spends almost all its life in the air. It eats, drinks and even sleeps while flying.
Many people wonder where this migratory bird travels every year. It doesn’t fly to India, Malaysia, Indonesia or Australia. Instead, it flies all the way to Southern Africa and then comes back to Beijing.
What is more surprising is that we are 99% sure it can finish the long round trip to Africa without landing at all. It stays in the sky for about nine months a year.
This amazing story has caught the attention of scientific and mainstream(主流的) media at home and abroad. I often share the story with students when giving talks in Beijing schools. After listening, students always ask what they can do to help swifts.
A little girl advised making nest boxes for swifts. She also suggested writing to building companies to design new buildings more friendly to them.
Later, four students worked together and wrote a letter to the CEO of one of China’s largest building companies. To their surprise, the CEO replied and invited them to a meeting. The students told him about the special lifestyle of the Beijing swift and asked for his help.
The CEO agreed right away. He said his company had built nice buildings for people for 20 years. From then on, they would design buildings not just for humans, but also for nature.
He made three clear promises. They would put 200 special nest boxes on old buildings, leave proper holes in new ones for swifts to nest, and call on the building industry to care more about nature and birds.

原文第一段指出北京雨燕“spends almost all its life in the air”,第三段提到它“stays in the sky for about nine months a year”,对应选项B“它一年中大部分时间都在飞行”。
原文最后一段明确说明CEO的承诺:“put 200 special nest boxes on old buildings”,对应选项B。
原文第三段提到“we are 99% sure it can finish the long round trip to Africa without landing at all”,可推断出北京雨燕往返非洲时几乎不降落,对应选项D。
