Gather together with some good friends and take a slow walk through
the streets. Now many young people in China enjoy doing this when they visit a new city.
Citywalk is about travelling around a city on foot and finding unusual things. It can be a special
event like starting on a trip with tour guides(导游) or simply exploring the streets yourself. Such
walks usually avoid(避开) famous places of interest and shopping centres, and take you to places where

Citywalk is a good way for people to talk with the city they live in. Nan Xi, who moved from
Beijing to Shanghai, got to know about Citywalk from a social media platform. "I think Shanghai is a
city perfect for Citywalk." She and her husband chose a popular Citywalk line in Jing'an District. They
began the walk at 3 p.m. and walked until dusk. Besides enjoying the views on the streets and buildings
along the way, they also visited some small shops.
Afterwards, she took part in a two-hour Citywalk priced at 88 yuan per person. A tour guide told
her the history of the buildings and streets along the way. "If it were me walking alone, I would simply
find the streets artistic, but the tour that day helped me get a better understanding of the local culture
in Shanghai," she said.
