Ⅳ. 阅读理解。
Recently, one middle school in Sichuan held an activity. It asked students to tell the stories of their family heirlooms(传家宝). More than 300 students took part. They brought photos of their heirlooms to school and shared their stories.
A cassette radio(磁带收音机)
The 14-year-old Song's heirloom is a cassette radio. His grandmother bought the radio in the 1980s and listened to the news on it. His mother then used it to listen to music tapes. When Song was young, his mother often played old poems for him on the radio. "There are now many more cool players. But we still keep this one because it holds beautiful memories of my family," said Song.
A medal of honour
Guo's heirloom is a medal from his great-grandfather. He took part in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea(抗美援朝战争). For the 13-year-old, the medal stands as an honour for his family. "Whenever I see my great-grandfather's medal,I feel very proud. In my heart,my great-grandfather is a hero. I see him as an example to follow and will make our country a better place in his honour," said Guo.
Food coupons(粮票)
Xiao,14,won first prize in the activity. Her heirlooms are some food coupons. Her grandma used to tell her stories about food shortages when she was a kid. Back then, people could not get too much food each month. Even buying rice needed a special coupon. Xiao was amazed by this. She said,"My grandma wants me to be thankful for what we have today and work hard for a better tomorrow."
