The Father and His Sons
There was once a rich farmer. He had three sons. They were strong and healthy but lazy. They didn't work. They didn't help their father at all.
Before he died, the farmer told his sons that there was much gold in the fields. Gold! The three sons were excited. They dug and turned over the soil in the fields but didn't find any gold. They were all disappointed.
One year passed. Something unexpected happened. There were lots of fruit trees in the fields. The trees were full of fruits because the brothers dug and turned over the soil well. They took the fruits to the market. They worked hard. They got rich.
“Ha!” said the elder brother. “Now I understand that our father was a wise man.
He wanted us to work hard.”
“Yes,” said the others. “Hard work makes a man rich.”
