On 18 Oct. 2025, the world said goodbye to a great mind. Professor Yang Zhenning, a famous scientist and Nobel Prize winner, passed away in Beijing at the age of 103.
With another scientist, Li Zhengdao, Yang made an important discovery about the laws of nature. This finding helped them win the Nobel Prize in physics in 1957 and changed how people understood symmetry(对称性) in nature.
Physics shows beauty through symmetry, while life is often full of complexity. Yang’s life showed this truth. Although Yang became the first Chinese to win the Nobel Prize during the Cold War, he was far away from China and could not even receive the tea his father sent him. He lived between two cultures—he was “an Eastern scientist in the West” and “a Western representative(代表) of the East”.
Although he lived abroad, he never forgot his motherland. For years, he travelled between the two countries. He became a living bridge between Chinese physicists and the international scientific community by introducing China to the world through speeches and writings. In 2003, Yang moved back to Beijing and taught physics at Tsinghua University at the age of 81. He started from basic ideas like time and the speed of light. He also helped build a world-class research centre at Tsinghua. In 2015, Yang gave up his US citizenship(公民身份) and decided to stay in China forever. He called his home “Gui Gen Ju(归根居)”, showing that his life had returned to where it started.

解析
50题:词义猜测题,需结合转折连词while的逻辑关系,前文描述物理的“美”,转折后应对应相反含义,据此推测划线词意思;
51题:细节理解题(事件排序),需定位各事件在文中的时间或先后顺序,逐一核对选项;
52题:细节理解题,定位“Gui Gen Ju”所在句子,查找其解释说明的内容;
52题:最后一段明确说明“He called his home “Gui Gen Ju(归根居)”, showing that his life had returned to where it started.”,即表达生命回归起点,对应选项D。
50. C 51. A 52. D 53. D
