二、阅读理解。(40 分)
A
A School Book Donation Drive
Last month, Green Middle School's charity organization started a book donation drive. The goal was to collect old storybooks and textbooks for kids in a mountain village primary school—many of those kids had never owned more than one book.
All students joined in. Some brought their favourite picture books from childhood; others donated maths and English textbooks they no longer used. A group of volunteers from Grade 8 helped sort the books: they put picture books for young kids in one box, novels for older students in another, and textbooks in a third. After two weeks, they collected over 500 books!
Last Friday, three teachers and five volunteers took the books to the mountain village. When the village kids saw the books, their eyes lit up. A little girl named Xiao Ya held a storybook about animals and said, “I can read new stories every night now!” The volunteers felt happy too—they realized small acts of kindness could bring big joy.
