I remember a typhoon came when I was ten years old. It was Tuesday that day,and my family heard the news over the radio. The weather reporter advised people to prepare some emergency supplies well. She also told us to stay inside when the typhoon landed. After hearing the news,my mother went to the supermarket nearby to buy some food and water as soon as possible. My father was checking our house to make sure it was safe while I was closing the doors and windows. After my mother came back,I helped her cook in the kitchen. My father put pieces of wood over the windows before strong winds came.
At about nine o'clock in the evening,the wind began to blow strongly outside. After a while,it began to rain heavily. I was very scared! "Would the windows be broken? Would my bed get wet?" I thought.
After thinking for a while,I fell asleep. When I woke up,it was still raining and the wind was blowing.
At about 11:00 a. m. the next day,the wind began to die down. At 1:00 p. m.,the typhoon finally passed away. My father checked our house with me. The typhoon was really strong. Some of our neighbours' windows were broken,and the roofs nearly came off,but there was almost no loss in our house! My father told me,"That's because we prepared very well."
