Researchers from a college in the USA find that people who enjoy sweet food often show care for others. Before, they only see this in Americans. Then they score 10 kinds of sweet foods, such as chocolate and cookies, from 1(dislike) to 6(love). They also choose their favourite tastes from sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy.
The result is clear: Across all cultures, people loving something sweet are more likely to be kind and trustworthy. Why? Maybe because people use the word “sweet” to describe both food and nice people. In Western cultures, people even call a generous friend a “sweetheart”.
But remember, this study just shows a connection(联系) and doesn't tell why. There are more fun questions to answer, like do spicy food lovers have more courage? Do salty snack lovers tend to be strict? More research is needed.
