Food is what we need every day, and
there are big differences between Chinese
and Western eating habits.
In China, we often have rice, noodles
or mantou as our main food. Vegetables are

having different colours. For example,
putting green broccoli, red tomatoes and
brown chicken together. And we love
sharing food. When we have a meal, there
are lots of dishes in the middle of the table.
Everyone uses chopsticks筷子 to get the
food they want. Families and friends sit
around, talking and enjoying the delicious
food. It makes us feel close and happy.
In Western countries, people usually
eat bread, steak牛排 and potatoes. They
care a lot about the nutrition营养 of
food. A meal is made to have the right
amount of different nutrients. When it's
time to eat, people have their own plate.
They use knives and forks叉子. This
way of eating gives people their own space
while enjoying the fun together with
others.
These two kinds of diet cultures饮食
文化 come from different histories, places
and ways of life. We should respect the
differences because we hope to understand
the world better. Although they are quite
different, they have something in common
