B
Four students are having a debate about whether it's useful for people to learn from history.
Lily:I think it's useful and we can learn from history. History books tell us many past mistakes, like wars and conflicts. If we read these stories, we will try to avoid the same problems. For example, many countries work together now to stop wars, because they know the pain of war from history.
Tom:I disagree. Similar bad things still happen today. For instance, some places still have fights, even though we know war is terrible. People often forget the lessons from history quickly. So “learning from history” is just a nice idea, not a reality.
Lucy:I agree with Lily. History also teaches us good lessons, like how people worked together to solve big problems, such as fighting diseases in the past. We use those experiences to deal with new problems today. That's really learning from history.
Jack:But those good examples are few. Most of the time, people only think about their own interests. They ignore the history lessons. So I think it's hard for people to truly learn from history.
All in all,in my opinion, history is a gift for us. It makes everyone think and become wiser.
