Every country has its table manners, and some of them are really interesting! Learning these manners helps you be polite when eating with friends from different places.
In Western countries like the US and the UK, people use a fork and a knife. They hold the fork in the left hand and the knife in the right. It's not polite to talk with food in your mouth—no one wants to see that! Also, don't put your elbows on the table while eating.
In China, chopsticks are the main tools. But remember: never stick chopsticks into a bowl of rice. It's also rude to wave chopsticks in the air. When eating with grandparents or parents, let the elders start first.
Japan has fun rules too! When you eat noodles, it's okay to slurp(出声地吃) them. People think slurping shows the noodles are delicious. But don't stick your chopsticks in rice, just like in China. And when drinking soup, you can drink from the bowl directly—no need for a spoon!
In India, many people eat with their right hands. Why not the left? They use the left hand for other tasks, so using the right hand for eating is clean and polite. Also, don't leave your plate empty—finishing all food means you love it, but leaving a little is okay too.
