Learning with the Help of Songs
At the age of 18, I started taking Chinese classes at school. I learnt some Chinese
characters and tried using them in sentences. It was difficult. Luckily, my Chinese
friends showed me a fun way to learn the language—sing Chinese songs. The music
helps me remember characters and understand them better!

I'm interested in all kinds of tongue-twisters, and Chinese ones are my favourite.
English has its own tongue-twisters, like "She sells seashells by the seashore," but
Chinese makes it even better with tones(声调). Even when the letters in pinyin are
the same, different tones can make different words. Can you say "磨坊磨墨,墨碎磨坊
一磨墨" smoothly?

Enjoying Chinese Ancient Poems(古诗)
I like reading Chinese ancient poems and I find most of them are short and simple
(简洁的). For spring, Chinese poet Meng Haoran wrote a famous poem with just
twenty characters, but the English poet William Blake used over eighty words in his
poem. Both two poems are great works. But the English sentences are often longer.
