The dog days, also called Sanfu in Chinese, are the hottest and wettest days of the year. They usually start in July and last for about 30 to 40 days. They are divided into three parts: Chufu, Zhongfu and Mofu. Zhongfu is usually the hottest among the three.
Because of the high temperatures, people may not feel comfortable and don't want to eat. Some even get sick from eating too many cold foods.
