Did you see a blind person on the bus with a dog? Dogs can learn to do a lot of things for these people.
Dogs have a good sense of smell and can tell when there is danger. Also, dogs are easy to train(训练) and are true friends to their owners(主人). When in danger, dogs will do anything to keep their owners safe.
These dogs are sometimes called guide(向导) dogs or hearing dogs. These dogs can help people who cannot see or hear. They can open and close doors, pick up things, and follow orders. If people get hurt or sick, the dogs can bark(吠叫) to call for help.
Dogs can also help people in another way. They are called therapy dogs(治疗犬). They may visit a school or hospital to help people who are feeling sad or worried. Therapy dogs can show kindness and love to make people feel happy. When people feel happy, they may become healthier.
Although dogs are the most common animals that help people, there are other animals that can learn to do this too. You may see a cat, a rabbit or a horse helping someone. These animals stay with a person and become a good friend.
