She was born in 1977 in Shandong. When she was only a little girl, she dreamt of being a great scientist. And she worked hard to make her dream come true. In 1996, Yan went to Tsinghua University (大学) to study. After finishing her study at Tsinghua University, she went to Princeton University in the USA and finished her study there in 2007. Then she came back to Tsinghua University to be a teacher and set up her own lab (实验室). Just in the same year, 30-year-old Yan became the youngest professor at Tsinghua University.
