It seems that some animals can know when an earthquake (地震) will come. This can be important, because earthquakes can kill people. If animals can predict the earthquake, they may help save people's lives. Some animals make a lot of noise before an earthquake. If dogs are usually quiet, they will bark (吠叫) loudly before an earthquake. And you can see some strange things on other animals. Mice leave their homes and run away. Fish jump out of the water.
In Italy, lots of cats ran down the streets together. Only a few hours later, an earthquake came.
In the USA, a man had some small pet frogs in his house. One Sunday night, the frogs kept jumping around and made loud noise. This woke the man up. It was an earthquake and luckily, the man was saved.
