Asia Is the Star of the BBC’s New Nature Series
The BBC is famous for its nature shows, but it does one about Asia nowadays. This seven-part new documentary series, called Asia, takes viewers across its beautiful 1 (nature) world. Matthew Wright is one of the show's producers. What does he have to say about it?
Why did you want to make this series?
The BBC made 2 great series called Seven Worlds, One Planet in 2019. Only one of them was about Asia, and that was not enough. Our team decided to fill that gap. We collected many stories and spent four years finishing the series. We are 3 (real) happy with our work.
What is your favourite part in the series?
The 4 (begin) is amazing. It shows grey reef sharks(灰礁鲨) chasing a group of Moorish idols(镰鱼). Our team is 5 (one) in the world to record the part. We put some lively music to it, and that's a good start to a great story.
Were there any interesting stories during filming?
Once, we went to Xizang 6 (film) the life of chiru(藏羚羊). While we were looking 7 them, our cameraman, Jacky Poon, saw a wolf following some. It ran after them for hours 8 hunting(猎杀) the weakest one down. It was one of the most wonderful hunt events. We were lucky.
What can viewers learn from this series?
I hope viewers can 9 (see) Asia in a new way. Its wildlife is just as 10 (colour) as anywhere else, and it has many amazing things. I hope Asia's beauty is top of mind when people talk about nature in the future.
