Today I go to the Birch Bark Art Workshop. It is an exciting day!
In the morning, we go to the forest with Grandma Zhang. She shows us how to take birch bark without hurting the trees. We only take a little from each tree. The bark is white and smooth(平滑的). It smells like the forest!

After lunch, we start making a small birch bark box. Grandma Zhang teaches us step by step. First, we cut the bark into pieces. Then we soak(浸泡) them in hot water to make them soft. Next, we fold(折叠) the bark and carve simple patterns. I carve(雕刻) a little bird. Finally, we glue the pieces together. It is not easy, but I am very careful.
Look! My little box is finished. It can hold my small treasures(珍宝). I feel so proud! Grandma Zhang says, “Good job, little one. You have patience.” I love this traditional art. I want to learn more!
