The Secret Garden is a children's novel written by British-American writer Frances Hodgson Burnett(1849-1924). It tells a story of two lonely and sick children who become healthy and happy by taking care of their garden.
One of the children, Mary, is a thin little girl. Her parents passed away when she was 10. She has to go live with Mr Craven, an uncle whom she has never met before. Mr Craven has many gardens, one of which is locked up because his wife passed away inside it. Mary finds the garden and it becomes a special place for her. There she meets with friends, plays with animals and enjoys nature.
Mary saw a strong boy in a tree. On his shoulder was a squirrel(松鼠). Around him were several birds and rabbits on their hind legs. The animals all seemed to be listening to the boy's song.
“Don't come any closer,” the boy said,“You'll scare the animals away.”
Mary stopped walking. “Hi. I'm Dickon. Pleased to meet you,” he said.
“I'm Mary. Happy to meet you, too,” said Mary.
“Mary! Where's your garden?” asked Dickon.
Mary knew then that she couldn't keep her garden to herself forever. “Dickon,” Mary said,“Can you keep a secret?” “I always keep secrets,” he said. “Don't tell anybody. I've stolen a garden.” What do you mean you've ‘stolen a garden’?”
“Well, there's this garden that has been locked up for many years. Mr Craven said that nobody could go into the garden. I found that garden myself. It's dying because nobody has taken care of it in years.”
“Alright, Mary. Show me the garden. If there's anybody who can bring it back to life,I can.”
Mary then led Dickon to the secret garden. Dickon looked around and around. He was just as amazed as Mary was to see the garden. “It is a strange, pretty place!”
They worked all day long that sunny day. They removed unwanted grass and leaves. They planted seeds and pulled out dead flowers. They watered plants and made flowerbeds.
“It's the best fun I ever had in my life—shut in here and wakening up a garden,” said Dickon.

解析

3. 第3题:定位到原文Dickon的话“It's the best fun I ever had in my life—shut in here and wakening up the garden”,句中It指代破折号后的wakening up the garden,故选D。
